Week 2: ANALYST

TASK 2: Potentialities of the digital in the classroom. LEMKE Comic

Week 2 task was about the creation of a comic to explain in an easy and visual way the main potentialities of using ICT in the classroom. Since we started the activity, it reminded us of the kind of tasks we were asked to do in the creation of our PBL in educational planning last semester. Besides, and also in educational planning, we learned some ways to integrate technology in teaching. In our case, our type of comic was a photo novel, in which we had to create pictures based on the text. This was, in fact, the best part of the activity because we explored our creativity in the creation of stories and photos. However, our week was chaotic. In the first place, we had one less member because Miriam was ill. Moreover, on the weekend we couldn’t get started with the task, so we had to do it in a hurry on Tuesday, and that might have been the worst part of our work. Finally, in the presentation day there were only three of us there to defend our work and we lost heart a bit, since I feel this week we haven’t been united as a team.

So, this week wasn’t perfect at all for our group. Some internal problems made us face one of the things we most feared: having to confront somebody. However, as it is always better to talk things instead of waiting until they explode, we had this conversation with her. It resulted in a change of roles and a little warning for next weeks, in which we want to see an improvement and a major implication. I believe that this situation has taught as a lesson for the future as teachers and as adults, for it is always easier to ignore problems rather than to cope with them, but the easiest way is hardly ever the best way.

Nevertheless, not everything has been bad for us. I think our team is very strong regarding understanding the different ideas and perspectives of each other, and we should definitely keep that for next tasks; as an improvement, we have to learn not to procrastinate, and therefore to better organise.

Even though this week was hard, we are not going to take it as a defeat, but as a victory, for what we have learned about ourselves and about our way of working is precisely that, a victory.

Feedback on classrooms' presentations

THE CLEAREST:

Coconuts, Puzzle team, Study Buddies, ICTeachers, See you on Tuesday, Tinkiwinkies, Potential Teachers.

We thought that the coconuts' poster had a very good structure and was the clearest. The information was well presented and very understandable.

THE MOST DIFFICULT:

See you on Tuesday, Study Buddies, Puzzle Team, Coconuts, ICTeachers, Potential Teachers, Tinkiwinkies.

In our opinion, See you on Tuesday (cave art) was the most difficult because they couldn't use words and just by their drawing they had to show clearly all the information.

FAVOURITES:

Puzzle Team, Study Buddies, Coconuts, See you on Tuesday, ICTeachers, Tinkiwinkies, Potential Teachers.

For us, the best one was the Puzzle team (superhero comic) because of its originality and the fantastic story they created.
